Bhopal: Once again, Ex-CM says sorry to government employees

BHOPAL: In a last minute effort to win back the confidence of the government employees, whom he had failed earlier, Congress nominee Digvijaya Singh on Thursday once again apologised for ‘hurting’ them during his tenure as Chief Minister. Aware of the power the government employees wield, the former CM is trying hard to win the trust of the employees whom he in run up to the 2003 assembly polls, had angered by saying that elections were won with sound “management and not with the help of state government employees.”

Earlier during Holi celebrations, the Congress leader had asked the governments to forgive him for his mistakes.  Addressing government staff at a programme in Vallabh Bhawan here on Thursday, the Congress leader claimed that he has changed many rules and norms for their benefit but former Shivraj Singh Chouhan mislead the employees and for which they that to suffer huge losses.  “In last 15 years Chouhan had not given dearness allowance of Rs 8614 and the pensioners arrears to the tune of Rs 900 crore. The irregularities is the salaries of around one lakh clerks were also not rationalised,” alleged Digvijya.
He claimed that during his chiefministership he had amended the norms of appointments on compassionate ground and given DA to the employees and also pensioners on par with Central Government employees. The public relation minister PC Sharma was also present at the meeting.  More City News on PG 4
