NEW DELHI: The Congress leaders in West Bengal have changed their stance. They are now pressing the Congress High Command to start talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for electoral alliance with her Trinamul Congress.
A threat of the Bhartiya Janata Party capturing the state in the next Assembly elections in April 2021 has made them wiser that it is only Mamata who can stop its gameplan and the CPI(M) and other left parties are in no position to be any effective.
A senior Congress leader said the leadership is not keen to take a decision urgently since the elections in the state are two years away. However, these leaders have insisted that an understanding with the Left will be a better choice.
