Gandhinagar : Babu Bajrangi, the former Bajrang Dal leader who was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the Naroda Patiya massacre in Ahmedabad during the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat has been granted temporary bail by the High Court. His application was considered for treatment of an eye disease.

The temporary bail granted by a division bench comprising Justice AS Dave and Justice Sonia Gokani, on Tuesday would enable Bajarangi to come out of jail from August 9 to 16. He is currently lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail.

In his bail plea before the High Court, he said that there is a major blockage in the veins of his eyes which needs urgent medical attention.
