Chandigarh: With Punjab’s ruling Congress leadership ruling out an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the latter finds itself out on a limb as it scampers for alliance partners.
The AAP’s Punjab unit leaders, led by state president Bhagwant Mann, have been holding parleys with leaders of the recently formed Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) but both sides have not been able to announce a formal alliance so far.
“We have met and discussed matters. There are some issues that need to be sorted out. We will have more meetings to take a decision in this regard,” Mann said. The AAP has been forced to turn towards the SAD-Taksali leadership after being snubbed by its earlier alliance partner, the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) led by the Bains brothers – Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains.
