Bahraich: Seven youths have been booked for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by posting objectionable content on social networking site Facebook, police said today. An FIR was lodged yesterday under sections 153B, 295A, 504 of the IPC and the IT Act against the seven persons including Vipul Singh, who wrote the post and has been arrested, police said.

“On June 20, the content was posted on Singh’s Facebook account, which the six other youths had either liked or commented on,” said ASP Dinesh Tripathi today.

Members of a particular community led by local BSP leader Shariq Khan reached Kotwali police station yesterday, raising slogans and complained against the post on Singh’s Facebook account. The official said that police force of different police stations was rushed to the site and the situation was well under control. Further investigations were on, he added.
