Bangalore : On the eve of Diwali, parents in Bangalore and elsewhere exploded in anger as news came in of yet another horrific rape of a four-year-old girl allegedly by a teacher at her school in North Bangalore.
The private international school in the affluent industrial hub of Jalahalli is part of a chain of 60 institutions that have over 60,000 students and 4,000 teachers spread across the country. The school has branches in Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad.
According to the police, the girl came home at 3pm on Tuesday with bruises and other injuries around her private parts. When her mother questioned her, the child reportedly told her that “an uncle at school hurt me.”
Following a complaint from her mother, the child was admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital at 5pm. Sources at the hospital have confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted.
North division DCP TR Suresh and his team interrogated six male teachers in the night. No arrests or detentions were made.
The school has about 15 CCTVs installed in the school premises and the police have seized the footages.
It may be recalled that in early July, a six-year-old girl of a techie couple from Odisha was allegedly gang-raped in her upscale school campus in East Bangalore. The incident had triggered massive protests by parents and citizens and led to the transfer of the City Police Commissioner.
