As Lok Sabha Elections are going to begin from tomorrow, an ADR report has come up with a constructive analysis that speaks about the number of candidates standing in the Lok Sabha Elections Phase 1 with criminal cases against their names.

Among the total number of candidates standing for the Lok Sabha Elections Phase 1 this year, 17% of them have criminal cases against their names.

In this report, ADR worked by trying to analyse self-sworn affidavits of 1,279 people out of which only 1,266 people could submit their affidavits. The rest of the 13 candidates were left out as they failed to submit their scanned and complete affidavits.

Here is a complete analysis of the 17% of people whose names have criminal cases against them:

16 out of 83 Bhartiya Janata Party candidates have serious criminal cases against their name while 22 out of 83 Congress candidates have serious criminal cases against them too.
