Mathura:  District administration of Mathura has formed a four-member team of doctors to probe into the death of a woman who died of cardiac arrest when she had gone for a tubectomy surgery at a hospital here.

“On the direction of District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar, the inquiry team has been formed,” Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr B S Yadav said.

Poonam (30), resident of Aligarh, yesterday died of cardiac arrest when she had gone for a tubectomy surgery at the district hospital here.

Her family members alleged that she died due to negligence of the hospital’s administration during the operation and protested in the hospital premises.

“She suffered severe heart attack prior to intravenous sedation. She was immediately given oxygen as well as artificial respiration followed by cardiac supplement and cardiac massage, however, she could not survive,” medical superintendent Dr B D Bhaskar said.

It is only after the post-mortem report, that the reason behind her death would be clear, the CMO said.

Last month, 13 women had died due to botched sterilisation surgeries in Chhattisgarh.
