Mumbai :  In a new twist to the harassment case slapped on him, industrialist Ness Wadia on Wednesday sent a letter to the Marine Drive police station naming nine people who were present on the day of the IPL match on May 30 when the alleged spat between Preity Zinta and him took place.

The letter signed by Wadia, 44, said, “We believe these persons who were present would be able to provide independent and truthful facts about the events that took place at the stadium on that evening, with regard to the false complaint filed by Preity Zinta against me.”

The nine people named by him include Serieka Lal, Loretta Joseph, Pooja Dadlani, Anneline Adams, Farah Oomerbhoy, Sweetie Burman, Kamlesh Shah, Rayaan Mustapha and Sharat Nath.

According to sources, the Mumbai police may record Wadia’s statement within the next 48 hours. The witnesses named by him will be called for questioning as and when they respond to the summons. However, only those people’s statements, who are relevant to the case, will be included in the chargesheet which will be eventually filed in the court.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), Ravindra Shisve said, “We will examine the relevance of Wadia’s letter and take steps accordingly.” He refused to confirm any other details regarding the police’s next step.

On the other hand, the 39-year-old actress has put out a statement on her Facebook page defending her complaint and asking people to be patient and give her some privacy. She also clarified how she did not file the complaint for money or publicity. “The police investigation is on, so I would humbly request people to have a little patience and wait for all the facts to come out. This is not a frivolous or immature complaint to the police” – is a part of what she said in the Facebook post.
