New Delhi : Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs M.Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday welcomed U.S. President Barack Obama’s statement describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘man of action’, and said that countries across the world are realizing the potential of India and the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Narendra Modi ji has brought back the leadership, has brought back governance and bringing development that is being recognized worldwide. India is being recognized and respected by one and all, I am happy that even American president has acknowledged it second time. Country after country, leader after leader is realizing the potential of India and the able leadership of our Prime Minister,” Naidu told media here.

Taking a dig at Congress, Naidu said, “But unfortunately our opposition, which has been given the mandate to be in opposition, has failed to recognize this.”

When asked whether he expects the Rajya Sabha to function smoothly, Naidu said, “I am optimistic, I hope that it will function smoothly. The opposition doesn’t have any issue, they just to want to criticize the government, so they are raking up trivial issues.”

He also alleged that some political parties wanted to disrupt the parliament in order to make political capital out of the issue.

“We have already made our stand very clear that there is no question of Minister resigning or removing the minister. The minister has expressed regrets and offered apology in both the houses of parliament, the issue is closed then and there. Some political parties, in order to make political capital out of an issue, want to disrupt the parliament which is not liked by the people of this country,” he added.

Earlier on Thursday, the US President praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to shake up the ‘bureaucratic inertia’ in India, shortly after he described the Prime Minister as a ‘man of action’.
