Muzaffarnagar: A section of farmers from Uttar Pradesh have threatened to sell its produce to mill owners in neighbouring state Haryana, which they claim offer better prices.

Bharat Kisan Union (BKU) Chief Naresh Tikait said the Uttar Pradesh government was yet to announce support prices of sugarcane, alleging that the government is playing in the hands of sugar mill owners and not fixing support prices.

Haryana has offered better prices to farmers for sugarcane at Rs 301 per quintal, he said.

Tikait addressed farmers yesterday who had gathered on the second death anniversary of late BKU leader Mahendra Singh Tikait at BKU headquarters in Sisauli near here.
