Sopore (Jammu and Kashmir): Unknown gunmen killed a local traders’ association president, Khurshid Ahmad, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town.

Ahmad, who was shot at around 9.30 pm on Thursday, was believed to be a sympathiser of hardliner separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

“He was bleeding and lying in front of his gate. When we lifted him and reached the road, police and army were already there. When I enquired from SHO about the incident, he said they (unknown gunmen) were already there,” said Ahmad’s cousin brother, Abid.

Meanwhile, a resident, Ghulam, said pro-freedom civilians are being targeted. “Those who are passionate about freedom are being targeted. He was also campaigning for freedom that is why he was killed,” he said. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
