New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday lashed out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for making baseless comments following the announcement of a special package by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Nitish should instead thank the Centre for the announcement of a special package for Bihar.
“Few people have the habit of being ungrateful. You should be thankful when something is being given for the poor. For the betterment of Bihar and the people of Bihar, allotment of special package is a big thing, it should be welcomed. You won’t lose your vote if you be thankful. There is no meaning if you keep on making baseless comments like this,” Naqvi said.
The Bihar Chief Minister had yesterday said that the NDA Government at the Centre must not suffer from any misunderstanding with regard to granting Special Status or giving special assistance to the state, as what was being demanded, was a right and not to be seen as a favour.
“While I will wait to hear details of the so called package announced by Modi ji, I emphasize, special assistance is our right & not a favor,” Nitish said in a tweet.
He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not doing any favour for Bihar if he chooses to give special status to the state or anything else.
The Janata Dal (United) leader further said that the Prime Minister was duty-bound to hear the state’s request and consider it seriously keeping all factors in mind.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had yesterday announced Rs. 1.25 lakh crore special package for Bihar. He said that this package would change fate of Bihar and development work will be speeded up.
