Johannesburg : South African authorities have dismissed rumours surrounding the arrest of Oscar Pistorius, saying that they would have confirmed had there been any such developments about the convicted Paralympics runner.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku stated that no warrant had been issued against the double-amputee athlete, Sport24 reported.

Reports of issuing an arrest warrant for Pistorius began to emerge in the local media, saying that it would be enforced next week when he was reportedly expected to apply for bail.

Pistorius was found guilty of murder after South Africa’s supreme court of appeals overturned his previous conviction for culpable homicide in the killing of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Thursday.

Pistorius had been released on parole and placed under house arrest at his uncle’s house after serving almost a year in prison. He will now be handed a new sentence.

According to the South African law, the minimum sentence for murder is 15 years in prison.
