Jodhpur : The trial court here has given last chance to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to prove his innocence in a case filed against him under Arms Act on July 5.

The court on Tuesday also pulled up the counsel of Khan for seeking time since past two hearings. Chief Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit had taken the statements of Khan on record on March 10 on his appearance in the court for recording of the accused statements, to which he had pleaded innocence.

“On this, the court had given him an opportunity to produce evidence or witness in support of his plea of innocence on April 4”, said Mahipal Bishnoi, one of the prosecution counsel. But Khan’s counsel H M Saraswat had sought more time from the court on April 4, after which the court gave him another opportunity on May 7, reports PTI.

“Since then, the court has given him two opportunities but he failed to produce any evidence or witness in order to prove his innocence in the court”, Bishnoi said. Now the court has given him a last chance to produce evidence in the court on July 5 in support of his innocence. Khan had been prosecuted under Arms Act for allegedly keeping and using the fire arms with expired licences.

On the other hand, the arguments in a case of poaching of two Black Bucks in Kankani on 1-2 October, 1998 continued in the same court today with the then forest officer (investigating officer) Lalit Bora appearing in the court.

Khan’s counsel Saraswat said that the arguments could not be completed and the same would continue on June 24.  Bora had been summoned by the court through a bailable warrant during last hearing in May.[alert type=”e.g. warning, danger, success, info” title=””][/alert]
