Indore : The city police claim to have recovered Rs 9.96 lakh from Meghna Pandey, wife of Vyapam scam whistleblower Prashant Pandey, after she was detained at her office in Nehru Market.
The police claimed the action was taken after they were tipped off that Meghna was carrying a huge amount of unaccounted for cash.
The seizure created ripples in the town after reports spread about nearly two dozen officers of a `law enforcement agency’ detaining Meghna and whisking her away in a car.
The incident took place at around 6.30 pm after office time; Meghna is an HR executive at Exide Battery showroom of Laxmi Motors. As she stepped out of office, she was flanked by officials, including women staff, who had reached the venue in three cars.
Soon after the information went viral, Prashant, who was in Delhi, posted on his Facebook account: One of the most ridiculous deeds of Madhya Pradesh government & MP Police – they are now up to the illegal detention of my family while I am in Delhi.
Prashant claimed that the state government, the central ministers and the police officers, against whom he had submitted evidence in the Vyapam scam, will be held responsible if any harm comes to her.
