Mumbai: A sum of Rs 1.95 crore in hard cash was allegedly stolen from a van near Milan subway in Vile Parle on Friday. The van was about to load money in an Automated Teller Machine of a bank, when the incident occurred. The curious thing is that the alleged robbery took place in broad daylight at around 2 pm. The driver of the van, it is claimed, had immediately come to the Vile Parle police station along with the vehicle to register a complaint.

The police, however, were clueless about the robbery. There were no witnesses and the driver seemed to have no inkling as to what really happened. The officials said that they had not registered an FIR in the matter as they were still trying to determine the facts of the case. Nonetheless, the hand of an insider in the robbery is suspected.

Repeated calls to Senior Police Inspector (PI) of Vile Parle police station, Raksha Maharao, and Deputy Commission of Police (DCP), Zone VIII, Virendra Mishra, under whose jurisdiction the Vile Parle police station falls, went unanswered.
