Rahul catches up on much needed sleep

New Delhi :  Any place is good enough for an afternoon nap, even the hallowed precincts of Parliament. But eyebrows are sure to go up a notch or two if the snoozer happens to be Rahul Gandhi.

Already he has been getting much flak for staying away from Parliament with some questioning even his political temperament; and now if chooses to use the Opposition benches in the lower house as a featherbed to catch up on his forty winks, it is sure to raise hackles.

“Rahul Gandhi was seen sleeping in Parliament during a debate on price rise. That’s what the Congress was doing during their 10-year-rule,” BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said in a scathing tweet. Hussain may not be off the mark: In the CCTV footage of the proceedings in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi appeared to have nodded off, his head tilted to the right.

That too when a Congress member in front of him was speaking: His eyes remained shut for about 30 seconds, till he roused himself from his afternoon siesta and thumped the desk at his party MP’s speech.

The image has since gone viral on social media.
