New Delhi: With the third phase of the five-phase Bihar elections underway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged the people of the state to cast their votes in large numbers.

“Today is the third phase of the Bihar Assembly elections and I would like to urge the electorate to cast their votes in large numbers,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

A total of 808 candidates are in fray for 50 assembly seats across Bhojpur, Buxar, Nalanda, Patna, Saran and Vaishali districts. Authorities have deployed 1,107 companies of para-military forces and the state to ensure peaceful voting.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Prasad are contesting the polls from Mahua and Raghopur constituencies respectively. The voting for the first two phases were held on October 12 and October 16, during which 81 assembly constituencies went to polls. The counting of votes and declaration of results for 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held on November 8.
