New Delhi: With the Congress targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘inconsistent’ Pakistan policy following the ongoing attack on the Air Force Base in Pathankot , Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday asked the grand old party to keep petty politics aside when it came to National security.

“Terrorism is an international challenge and the world is fighting against it as one. Amid such a situation, things should not be said that bolster the confidence of the terrorists and our global war against terrorism is affected,” Naqvi said.

Asserting that political fights were a different matter altogether, he added that when it comes to national safety, the Congress needed to support the Centre’s endeavours.

“They (Congress) need to introspect and think about their political childishness. They also need to think about what they say during such sensitive times when the nation is standing together,” Naqvi added.

However, the Congress continued with their barrage on the Centre, targeting India’s soft stand with Pakistan and said that the Pathankot attack was an attack on the nation.

After cancellation of the NSA level talks in August what was the understanding reached between NSA Ajit Doval and his Pak counterpart in Bangkok? The Pathankot attack was not only an attack on humanity but on India as well. The government should take nation into confidence and consult all political parties,” Congress leader Anand Sharma said in a press conference.
