Paswan’s LJP announces list of candidates for 6 Bihar seats

NEW DELHI : Lok Janshakti party leader Ram Vilas Paswan today announced the list of candidates for six out of the seven parliamentary constituencies in Bihar, from which the party will contest the Lok Sabha elections.

The leader decided to keep the three seats reserved for schedule caste candidates within the family-fold, with his son Chirag being fielded from Jamui and his brother Ramchander from Samastipur.

The party chief will himself contest from the reserved seat of Hajipur.Lok Janshakti is contesting the general elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

As per the seat-sharing agreement for Bihar, LJP agreed to contest seven of the state’s total 40 seats in Bihar, including Hajipur, Vaishali and Nalanda.

The LJP had contested the 2009 elections in alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal, drawing up a blank in Bihar. Beena Devi, wife of the party’s strongman Surajbhan Singh, got a ticket from the Munger seat, former legislator Rama Kishore Singh from Vaishali, and Satyananda Sharma from the Nalanda seat.
