Mumbai: Ending all speculations, the Nationalist Congress Party on Friday named Parth Ajit Pawar – grand-nephew of party supremo Sharad Pawar – as it’s candidate from Maval Lok Sabha constituency. Parth Pawar is the son of the NCP chief’s nephew and former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The other four nominees who figure in the NCP’s second list, all from parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra, are Dhanraj Haribhau Mahale (Dindori), Sameer Bhujbal (Nashik), Amol Kolhe (Shirur) and Bajrang Sonawane (Beed). However, suspense continued on the candidates for the crucial Ahmednagar and Madha seats.

NCP’s Maharashtra unit President Jayant Patil said discussions are still underway and the names are likely to be announced soon.

On Thursday, the party had named 12 candidates including one from an ally, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana party. While 11 of the candidates were from Maharashtra, one was from the sole Lok Sabha seat of the Lakshwadeep Islands.
