Paes lodges FIR against cricketer

Mumbai: Tennis player Leander Paes has filed a complaint against cricketer Atul Sharma that the latter allegedly threatened to kill him and his daughter outside the family court in Bandra.

According to a statement released by the police, on Tuesday there was a court hearing regarding the family dispute that is raging between Paes and his estranged live-in partner Rhea Pillai. Paes had apparently submitted some incriminating evidence in the court, which indicated an illicit relationship between Pillai and Sharma. Sharma, infuriated with the submission of that evidence, allegedly threatened to kill Paes and his eight-year-old daughter outside the family court.

Paes and Pillai, who were residing in a building at Carter Road, Bandra, have been locked in a custody battle. In June, Pillai had filed a case of domestic violence against Paes. A month and a half earlier, Paes had filed a guardianship petition seeking full custody of their daughter, Aiyana.

The two had started dating in 2003, when Pillai was still married to actor Sanjay Dutt and Paes had broken up with actress Mahima Chaudhary. Until May 2014, when Paes filed the guardianship petition, the two were in an amicable split.
