New Delhi: The ex-servicemen, who are staging a protest at the Jantar Mantar here over the implementation of the One Rank, One Pension scheme, today said it is extremely unfortunate and insulting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is not accepting their demand.

“It is very unfortunate that the we gave our entire life to this nation and today we have to come on the streets for our right at this age, nothing can be more insulting than this. The Modi Government should look after this matter as to what is the way they are treating us in this way,” said Major (Retd.) Piar Chand Rana

“We have decided we will sit unless our demands are met,” added another ex-serviceman.

OROP scheme has been a long-standing demand of nearly three-million ex-servicemen and war widows in the country.

It seeks to ensure that a uniform pension is paid to defense personnel, who retire at the same rank with the same length of service irrespective of their date of retirement.
