Mumbai: A number of top officials of the Maharashtra Government as well as police officials today called on the newly-appointed state Governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao on his first day in the office at the Raj Bhavan here.
State Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya, accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary, Planning K P Bakshi and Executive Director of Bank of Maharashtra R Atmaram were among the first to meet the Governor.
Director General of State Police Sanjeev Dayal and Commissioner of Police, Mumbai Rakesh Maria also met him separately.
A comprehensive presentation on tribal development was made before Rao by Principal Secretary Tribal Development Mukesh Khullar.
Principal Secretary Rural Development S S Sandhu, Principal Secretary V Giriraj, Commissioner of Tribal Development Corporation B R Jadhav and Commissioner of Tribal Research and Training Institute S M Sarkunde were also present during the presentation.
Principal Secretary Water Resources E B Patil and Principal Secretary Command Area Development Malini Shankar also gave a presentation of their departments before the Governor.
Rao, a BJP leader who hails from Karimnagar district of Telangana was sworn in as Maharashtra governor on Saturday, following the resignation of his counterpart K Sankaranarayanan.
Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli had been given a temporary given additional charge as the Governor of Maharashtra, after Sankaranarayanan resigned following his transfer to Mizoram by the Central government.
