New Delhi : Dubbing the Dumka incident, wherein a 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after her parents turned down her request to construct a toilet as unfortunate, Congress leader Barkha Singh Shukla on Saturday said that Member of Parliaments should allocate funds to ensure that toilets are built in every house. “It is unfortunate that a girl committed suicide only because there was no toilet at her home. Poverty is one of the reasons why people don’t get the toilets constructed. MPs must allocate money to ensure that toilets are built in every house to prevent such incidents,” said Shukla. A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in Jharkhand’s Dumka district after her parents turned down her request to construct a toilet in the house. According to reports, the parents wanted to save money for the girl’s marriage. The girl was found hanging from the ceiling of her room by family members, according to police officials.
