Monsoon Prep: Konkan Railway to deploy over 900 watchmen along tracks

Mumbai: The Konkan Railway is taking all possible prevention measures so as to ensure uninterrupted train services in the coming monsoon. Over 900 watchmen will be deployed from June 10 to October 31 all along the Konkan Railway lines and premises. The watchmen will be on duty round the clock to take immediate action if any boulders collapse due to rain. Konkan region is prone to heavy rainfall and in the past many boulder collapses have been reported, disrupting the Konkan Railway services badly especially during the rains. The Konkan Railway spokesperson said, “We have identified sensitive spots where the risk of boulder collapse is high. The watchmen will be on duty 24 hours and all them will be deployed at distance of 100 meters. We all ready with preventive measures for the coming monsoon to ensure that our services are not disrupted.”
