Namakkal (TN): A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at a village in the district,police said today.
The girl, a Class IV student of Nandakarai, was alone at her house yesterday evening when 45-year-old Kaliyamurthy took her to his powerloom factory and committed the crime, police said.
The girl returned home crying to her parents, who filed a police complaint.
A case was registered against Kaliyamurthy under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act-2012 and he was arrested last night, they said.
The child has been admitted to the government hospital here.
