Bhopal: Ace shooter Varsha Varman, Karate player Ajay Yadav and Anjali Vashishta (Canoeing and Kayaking) among others will get Madhya Pradesh government’s prestigious Vikram Award for excellence in sports. The Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia yesterday announced the winners of state’s highest sports awards including Vikram, Eklavya, Vishwamitra, Lifetime Achievement and Prabhash Joshi Sports Award for 2015.
This year, Eklavya Awards will be conferred to 14 junior sportspersons, Vikram Awards to nine senior players and Vishwamitra Awards to three coaches. Besides, Lifetime Achievement award will be conferred to a sportsperson for development and promotion of sports and one player will be given late Prabhash Joshi Award for promotion and development of Malkhamb sport.
The recipients of Vikram Awards-2015 are Anjali Vashishth (Canoeing-kayaking), Varsha Verman (Shooting), Riha David (Soft Tennis), Shri Ajay Yadav (Karate), Ankita Raikwar (Wushu), Rohit Imoliya (Swimming), Savita Parkhe (Softball), Ami Kamani (Snooker) and Gaurav Muchhal (Badminton–disabled persons, an official of the Public Relation Department said.
The Eklavya Awards-2015 will be given to Kirti Kewat (Kayaking-canoeing), Arundhati Sharma (Soft Tennis), Manish Baraskar (Wushu), Priyanshu Pandey (Shooting), Shubham Upadhyay (Swimming), Pranay Khare (Equistrian) Vishal Thakur (Sailing), Sushma Saryam (Wrestling), Anil Rajak (Taekwondo), Sarita Tomar (Boxing), Mohammad Awesh Khan (Cricket), Pooja Parkhe Softball), Neha Singh and Karishma Yadav (Hockey – jointly) and Kritika Chouhan (Rollball), the official said.
Vishwamitra Awards-2015 will be given to Sunil Kewat (Kayaking-Canoeing), Bhopal, Mohan Shakya (Rowing), Bhopal and Sachin Kasture (Softball), Indore. The Lifetime Achievement Award-2015 will be given to Chintaman Kashyap, Jabalpur while Harsh Yadav, Ujjain has been selected for Prabhash Joshi Sports Award.
