After rumours of the Kesari actor Akshay Kumar contesting Lok Sabha elections surfaced, he clarified today that he won’t be contesting polls. Reports were doing round stating that Akshay Kumar was likely to contest elections on Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) ticket from Punjab’s Gurdaspur or from New Delhi.
The speculations began when Akshay tweeted, “Getting into an unknown and uncharted territory today. Doing something I have never done before. Excited and nervous both. Stay tuned for updates.” In the meanwhile, speculations were doing rounds saying that the actor may contest elections from either Punjab’s Gurdaspur or New Delhi on BJP ticket.
But the actor now confirmed that he won’t be contesting elections. In a tweet Akshay said, “Grateful for all the interest shown in my previous tweet but just clarifying in light of some wild speculation, I am not contesting elections.”
According to News 18, Akshay’s Canadian citizenship is honorary, so there is no impediment in him contesting the election. Last month too, reports had surfaced that he may join the BJP, but he had rubbished the rumours and clarified that he has no plans of fighting polls.
