Tirunelveli: Power generation at Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant’s Unit-1, which was shut down about two months ago due to technical reasons, has resumed and it touched 750 mw today, a top official said.

Operations resumed yesterday and power generation last evening stood at 600 mw, plant site director R S Sundar told PTI.

The turbine of the plant was being fine tuned further so that the generation can be increased to 1,000 mw by tomorrow, he said.

The power from the plant has been linked to the Southern Power Grid, officials said.

Unit 1 of the Kudankulam plant, set up with Russian collaboration near here, achieved full power in June, 2014 and has so far generated 2825 MW electricity, while Unit-2 is at commissioning stage.
