DMK leader is currently admitted at the Kauvery Hospital, had last week the hospital officials said that the Karunanidhi’s stay has been extended ‘due to age-related overall decline in his health.’

Karunanidhi was admitted to the ICU of the hospital after his blood pressure dropped. His health became worse later, leading to party members and well-wishers rushing to the hospital to meet DMK chief. Although he is not critical, an expert team of doctors is keeping a close watch on him.

“An extended period of hospitalization will be necessary due to age-related overall decline in Karunanidhi’s general health, altered liver functions and haematological parameters,” the hospital statement on Tuesday informed. “He continues to maintain his vital signs with active medical support,” the hospital had said last week
