Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have acknowledged the mail sent by Delhi-based journalist Swati Chaturvedi against Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya who resorted to use uncouth language for her in his series of tweets over Chennai techie murder.

“Update got an acknowledgement from @MumbaiPolice that the complaint has been transferred to Joint CP. Act!” tweeted Chaturvedi. Chaturvedi has already filed a Non Congnisable case in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar police station regarding the matter that grabbed widespread media attention. The loose cannon singer has refused to apologise. “He’s lost it! Feel pity for him. But, won’t spare him,” she tweeted.

In her mail sent to city police commissioner on Monday late evening, Chaturvedi writes: “I have filed a complaint against the former singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya at Vasant Vihar police station in New Delhi. I have requested Delhi police to send my complaint to Mumbai police for further investigation and action.”

“I am sending you the advance copy for your information and action,” reads the email, which has been copied to the Mumbai’s Cyber Cell and Oshiwara police station. On Tuesday morning the mail, with subject line ‘My complaint against Abhijeet Bhattacharya’ was forwarded to Joint CP (Law and Order) Deven Bharti.

According to unconfirmed reports, the Mumbai Police are taking up the complaint filed by the journalist. Speaking on the matter, Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe said, “We have received a letter through email from her but there is no official communication from the Delhi Police yet.”

“We will initiate action only after Delhi police contacts us,” he said. Chaturvedi tweeted, “Criminal abuser will be issued summons say @MumbaiPolice.”
