Mumbai : A special court on Thursday rapped the CBI for leaking to the media parts of its charge sheet in the model-actress Jiah Khan ‘suicide’ case, saying this was “very serious” and asked the probe agency to be careful in future. Two days after the CBI filed its charge sheet in the case, accused Sooraj Pancholi on Thursday appeared before a Special Women’s court which adjourned the matter till January 18. As Sooraj collected the copy of the charge sheet and left, Special Judge A S Shende adjourned the case observing, “How come the contents of the charge sheet is known to media even before I got to know about it.” Meanwhile, outside the court, Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan told reporters that she was not satisfied with the charge sheet. She said that there is much more to be revealed.

Sooraj (25), who made his debut in Hindi film industry recently, has been charged by the CBI with allegedly abetting suicide of Jiah whom he had met on Facebook in September 2012; the friendship blossomed into an “intimate relationship” over a period of time, the charge sheet says. The CBI charge sheet includes a three-page suicide note written by Jiah in which she has dwelt on her intimacy with Sooraj, the physical abuse and the mental and physical torture she underwent. “Though the note is not signed by Jiah or addressed to Sooraj, the evidence at hand points at Sooraj only.” Investigations have further revealed that Jiah used to clean Sooraj’s room, iron his clothes and stack them in a cupboard. She also bought decorative articles for Sooraj’s flat and presented gifts to him. The agency has accused Sooraj of giving incomplete and fabricated statements. “He is concealing relevant information about the actual reason behind the incident,” the charge sheet said.

The young actor, who is the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, refused to subject himself to any scientific test like polygraph or brain mapping. In October 2013, Rabiya had moved the Bombay High Court alleging that Jiah had been murdered and sought a CBI probe.
