Jharkhand implements Food Security Act

Ranchi : The Jharkhand Government has implemented the Food Security Act that aims at providing subsidised food grains to around 80 percent of the state’s population. The scheme would cover 51,70,159 total number of families and more specifically2,33,40,832 people have been identified for getting rice at Re 1 per kg per head. As many as 37,37,609 people in the list are from Antyodaya. Speaking at a function, Chief Minister Raghuwar Das said that the state irrigation system is being further strengthened to make it self-sufficient in food grain production. State Food and Civil Supply Minister Saryu Rai said that process of inclusion of names of beneficiaries under the Act are on and 30 lakh more names are likely to be added in it.
