Mumbai : A total of 28 patients suffered injuries while celebrating Holi on Thursday, of which six were admitted to various civic hospitals. People with minor injuries were treated on Out-Patient Department (OPD) basis whereas others who had sustained serious head and shoulder injuries were admitted in emergency ward. However, hospital authorities stated that all the admitted patients are stable and are recuperating.

Civic hospitals OPDs and casualty wards are filled with patients during Holi as they majority come with complaints of skin rashes or infections, head and neck injury and alcohol intoxication. However, sources from the hospitals stated that this year not many of the patients needed admission and majority were treated on OPD and were soon discharged.

A total of 11 patients were admitted to Sion Hospital on Thursday of which nine had suffered various head, neck and shoulder injuries whereas other suffered leg fracture. Two had to be admitted to emergency ward as they were suffered from alcohol intoxication but are reported to be stable. Meanwhile, Nair Hospital reported six patients were injured, of which one was admitted owing to serious head injury after he lost his balance from the staircase.

Parel-based KEM Hospital reported 11 patients of which two required admission after suffering from major injuries. Sources from the hospital stated that majority of the patients were in the age-group of 20-30 and were males. “While celebrating Holi, no one actually cares if anyone will get injured because they all feel that everything is fair in Holi but they do not understand that their small mistake can put someone’s life at risk,” said a doctor from KEM hospital.
