Mumbai : The Kandivali police filed a charge sheet in connection with the murder of well-known artist Hema Upadhyay, in which they have charged her husband Chintan Upadhyay and four others with her murder and that of her lawyer.
Hema and lawyer Harish Bhambhani were murdered and their bodies were found in a nallah at Laljipada in Kandivali (W) by the police. The police had initially arrested Vijay Rajbhar, Shiv Rajbhar, Pradeep Rajbhar and a minor in connection with the murders. However, the main accused Vidyadhar Rajbhar managed to escape and continues to elude the police till date.
Later, the Kandivali police also arrested the husband, Chintan for allegedly conspiring to commit the murders. Though he has not confessed to anything, the police claim that they have circumstantial evidence to show that the murders were committed at his behest.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court today directed Thane prison authorities to respond to a petition filed by artist Chintan Upadhyay, arrested for allegedly murdering his wife Hema and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani, seeking a bed to sleep in his cell.
