Chandigarh : Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has called off his meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, scheduled for July 29, in view of yesterday’s terror attacks at Dina Nagar in the border district of Gurdaspur. Addressing a meeting with his ministers, Badal strongly condemned the terror attack as inhuman and dastardly. Two minute silence was observed during the meeting in memory of those killed in the attacks.

Badal also accoladed the police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the cause of peace and patriotism. The state government has announced compensation for the family members of the Punjab police and civilians who lost their lives during the attacks.
The meeting also placed on record its great appreciation for the exemplary courage and presence of mind shown by Punjab Roadways driver Nanak Chand in steering the bus passengers to safety. Chand is expected to be honoured during the Independence Day function with a State Award for bravery. His name would also be recommended to Government of India for the Gallantry Award for civilians.
