New Delhi: The ex-servicemen delegation on Saturday said they would take note of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s address first, before deciding on their next step on one-rank-one-pension (OROP) scheme issue. The delegation who met Defence Minister Parrikar said that government has broadly accepted the concept of OROP.

“We met the Defence Minister with our delegation. He has told us that he will give a statement at 2.30 p.m. today, and then we will decide what our next steps will be” said Major General (Retired) Satbir Singh, the chairman of the Indian Ex-Servicemens’ Movement (IESM).

Major General Singh also pointed out that the delegation has told the defence minister that the revision in the pension scheme must not be such that a junior ex-serviceman gets more pension than his seniors.

The government is likely to announce the OROP scheme in a short while from now.
