New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Friday said that former law minister Somnath Bharti didn’t turn up for the probe in the domestic violence case levelled against him by his wife Lipika Mitra and added that legal action would be initiated against him if he does not turn up in the future.

“In this case we had called Bharti, he has not presented himself yet. I hope that he will come, if he fails to come enquiry will be done,” Bassi told the media.

“If he (Somnath Bharti) does not come even after the issue of the notice, best possible legal action would be taken against him,” he added.

The Delhi Police had registered a case against Somnath Bharti after he was accused of domestic violence and mental torture by his wife. The case was registered against Bharti under Sections 307, 323 and 498A of the Indian Penal Code.

Lipika Bharti has been married to Somnath Bharti since 2010, but has been living separately from him since 2012 along with the couple’s two children in a rented accommodation in Dwarka.
