Karachi : Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has denied that Taliban leader Mullah Omar died in Pakistan or buried there. According to the Dawn, he said that Omar was neither in Quetta nor Karachi, adding that Pakistan does not want to be involved in controversy pertaining to Taliban leadership. His comments came while he was addressing the National Assembly. He also said that Mullah Omar’s family’s statement shows that he died in Afghanistan and was buried there.  Pakistan is playing its role as a facilitator in negotiations between the Afghan Taliban and the Afghan government, Asif said. He added that an atmosphere of peace can be established in the region by ensuring peace in Afghanistan.
