New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Dandi March remains a watershed moment in the country’s history and paid tribute to all the patriots who joined this march inspired by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership. Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter for paying his tribute. “Dandi March remains a watershed moment in our history. Tributes to all patriots who joined the March, inspired by Gandhi ji’s leadership,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

The Dandi March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, began on March 12, 1930, and was an important part of the Indian independence movement. It was a direct action campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly in colonial India, and triggered the wider Civil Disobedience Movement.
