Couple arrested for murdering relative in Punjab

Batala (Punjab): A couple was today arrested on charges of murdering their relative over some property dispute at Bulpur village under Sri Hargobindpur police station, police said. Baljit Singh and his wife Jasbir Kaur were arrested for allegedly murdering the former’s younger brother Major Singh at Bulpur village on September 19, SHO Sri Hargobindpur, Shaminderjit Singh told reporters today. He said the couple and their son Gurpreet Singh allegedly killed Major Singh (45) with swords.A dispute over a piece of land was stated to be the reason behind the murder, the SHO said, adding that the couple’s son Gurpreet Singh is still absconding.
