Muzaffarpur (Bihar): A complaint waslodged at a court here on Wednesday against actor Anupam Kher and othersassociated with the film “The Accidental Prime Minister”, allegingthat several public figures have been lampooned in the movie.
AdvocateSudhir Kumar Ojha filed the petition before the chief judicial magistrate’scourt here and it has been listed for hearing on January 8 before SubDivisional Judicial Magistrate (West) Gaurab Kamal. Besides Kher, who hasessayed the role of former prime minister Manmohan Singh in the movie, othersnamed in the complaint include actor Akshaye Khanna who plays noted journalistSanjay Baru – a media adviser to the ex-PM on whose book the movie is said tohave been based.
Actors andactresses who have played the roles of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congresspresident Rahul Gandhi – then a national general secretary – and Priyanka Vadrahave also been named in the petition alongside the movie’s producer anddirector. Ojha has alleged that he felt “hurt” upon viewing thepromos of the movie, set for release on January 11, on TV channels and YouTube.
He alsoclaimed that the film projects the country and a host of its political leaders,ranging from RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and BSP chief Mayawati to former primeminister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy Lal Krishna Advani, in a very poorlight. The petition was filed under IPC sections 295, 153, 153A , 293, 504 and120B relating to promoting enmity between different groups, sale of obsceneobjects, insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and criminal conspiracy.
