Dehradun: Opposition BJP today sought Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s resignation for not taking legal action against his former personal secretary who was allegedly linked to a bribery deal for liquor licences. The BJP also demanded a CBI probe into the sting CD episode.
The demands were made through a memorandum submitted to Governor K K Paul by a BJP delegation consisting of Pradesh BJP president Tirath Singh Rawat and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Ajay Bhatt besides several party MLAs and workers, a Raj Bhawan release here said.
A sting CD which surfaced recently purportedly showed Rawat’s former personal secretary Mohammad Shahid negotiating a bribery deal with a middleman for liquor licences prompting the BJP to allege that the state government was steeped in corruption.
