Dharmshala: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today attacked BJP, saying it was indulging in cheap politics in the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

“BJP has no issue… It is indulging in cheap politics in the name of Sardar Patel,” Singh said while addressing a public meeting at Tihri in Jwalamukhi assembly constituency near here.

The saffron party organised a marathon ‘Run for Unity’ in 565 places across the country to mark the death anniversary of Sardar Patel and it is also reaching out to people to collect iron pieces for the ambitious ‘Statue of Unity’ that Modi wants to build in memory of Patel.

Criticising BJP, Singh said the party was misleading people in the name of the country’s first Home Minister and it only believed in “show-off”.

“BJP earlier played with the sentiments of the people on the construction of Ram Temple issue and now, it is misleading them in the name of Sardar Patel. This clearly indicates that it has no concern for the common people and only believes in show off,” he said.

Singh said Congress always worked hard for maintaining unity and integrity of the country, but few forces were trying to mislead the people for fulfilling their political motives.

The Chief Minister said his government was committed to providing effective, responsive and transparent administration to the people of the state and it was being ensured that target groups received maximum benefits of developmental schemes.

He laid the foundation stone of Rs 1.31 crore Primary Health Centre building and residential complex and Rs 86.65 lakh, GSSS at Tihri.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Rs 3.56 crore Community Health Centre Building at Jwalamukhi and Shri Maan Sanskriti College, Jwalamukhi to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.36 crore by the Jwalamukhi Temple Trust.

Being a hilly state, every part of Himachal Pradesh had different necessities of development and the government was formulating developmental schemes accordingly, Singh said.

He said Congress believed in equivalent development of the states and the country.

“It was due to the consistent efforts of the successive Congress governments in the state that balanced and speedy development of every part of Himachal Pradesh was ensured and the state today stands at front in almost all parameters of development in the country,” he said.

Singh said the government was ensuring best  education, health facilities and ample opportunities of employment and self employment to the people of the state for which many novel schemes had been initiated.

He announced to construct a bridge over Bagdella Nalliyan road in the area at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore and a foot bridge at Agar on Tal khad. He also announced to connect Bagdella hamlet with link road.
