Mumbai : These days star kids don’t need fathers and grandfathers to launch them. Social media provides them with a ready platform to exhibit their assets and create a ‘persona’.

Navya Nanda, grand-daughter of Amitabh Bachchan, turned 18 a few months ago and lost no time in sharing her picture in a two-piece bikini on Instagram.

Of course, others like Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor did not even wait to be of voting age before she made a splash online: according to one portal, she already has 38,000 followers on Instagram and 2,000 on Twitter.

Incidentally, like attracts like. So, Navya is studying in Sevenoaks School, London, along with, guess who:  Shah Rukh Khan’s kids Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan. Already, Navya and Aryan have ‘starred’ together in a snap that was a talking point in cyber world. But whether they star together on the silver screen remains to be seen: while the buzz is that Aryan will make his Bollywood debut sometime in future, it is not clear if Navya will follow suit.

But all is not always hunky-dory in the rough and tumble world of the social media. Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor, who is very active on Instagram, found this to her dismay when she was pilloried on the social platform for her looks. But the gritty star kid gave it back to those who commented on her appearance. In a long post, a livid Khushi wrote, “I post my pictures because I feel good and confident. I put out these pictures not because I want to show off or try to be anyone or anything else. I have my own sense of style and my own way to think and me putting out a picture that’s accessible to so many people is taken more of an opportunity to judge me or my looks, clothes or anything else. I put something out there because it’s something I feel good about, everyone is entitled to have their own opinion but putting someone else down because of it is not making you any better of a person.” (Ref: Indianexpress.com) Others like Saif Ali’s son Ibrahim, who have been advised by their parents not to ‘overexpose’ themselves online, tread more carefully in cyber corridors.

So, savour the Gen Next of star kids online before some of them just fade away like Aditya Pancholi’s son; also waiting to flower onscreen are the likes of Jackie’s daughter Krishna Shroff. An online compilation.
