Margao: In a major burglary, unknown miscreants barged into a residential house near the Maruti Temple at Rumdamol Housing Board and decamped with gold ornaments valued around Rs 4 lakh.
The incident is believed to have occurred in the wee hours of Saturday when the inmates of the house had gone to their native place at Pernem.
The owner Mahesh Naik informed that the culprits broke open the door of the house to effect entry. He said the thieves have decamped with all the gold ornaments that were kept in the cupboard. “They did not lift away other valuables such as watches and other items, but have only lifted the gold ornaments,” he said.
Naik along with his family had gone to their native place at Pernem to go to Belagavi for a medical check up after locking the house.
The finger print expert was requisitioned to assist in the investigations.
