In keeping with the trend of entertainment with food and drinks for yuppies, a few sports bar have sprouted in the city. Ideally situated in R City Mall, Ghatkopar which houses several companies and call centres, Primetime Sports Bar is one such place where college students and corporate executives unwind after facing a demanding and arduous day in this competitive world. Once off duty, it’s time to catch up with friends or make new ones as there is nothing like bonding over good food and drinks with the innovative laser concepts, a game of bowling, interactive arcade and nostalgic indoor and board games as new age entertainment. The decor is vibrant with a sporty buzz in the air.
What interested me was the Wembley Bar with a selection of tipples and alcohol-free cocktails from among which Tropical Delight with pineapple, mango and coconut juice in banana blend caught my fancy. It lived up to my expectations. Try Spice Girl for that Mumbai chaap khus, litchi and ginger zest topped with lemonade lending it a fizzy edge. The menu comprises classic bar food items such as sandwiches, burgers, crisp Chicken Nuggets, cheesy French Fries, herbed Vegetable Roll, tangy Achari Mushroom and more with mini meals thrown in for nocturnal crawlers. My order for Crispy Chilli Potato and Crispy Veg were good choices but the tortillas in the Nachos with cheese and Mexican bean sauce was not up to the mark.
Guests who are not into bowling alleys kind, Primetime has a digitally equipped party room for dance and music lovers. Among the array of games, Disha Kanchan their Marketing Executive informs, “Customers’ favourite is Speed of light, Pool, Hummer, Nail It and Table top games such as Carrom, table tennis and others. The state-of-the-art gaming options have been imported from different corners of the world and include Dart Games, Beer Pong Table, Dalfie Video booth, Cannon Ball Blaster, Archery zone and over 40 interactive and thematic arcade games. With a comprehensive offering of Table Top and Board games, ‘gaming’ remains mainstay for a player while he relishes on his poison.”
Meaty Chicken Mexicano is Mexican style tomato sauce with selected herbs with chicken and kidney bean simmered in it. Sizzlers are another sell-out. Grilled Prawns – skewered prawns interlock with colored pepper, seasoned with herbs and red paprika sauce while Exotic Veggies surprises you with Chef’s special babycorn, broccoli & mushroom both served with fries and timbale of rice.
Mini Meals consist of Murgh/Prawns Biryani with mint infused Raita – fresh ocean prawns cooked in Indian style masala incorporated with aromatic rice served with creamy yogurt; Veg chopper fried rice with Manchurian balls was tasteful on the palate. Penne Pasta in Alfredo with creamy cheese sauce mingling with bell pepper, mushroom and basil served with garlic breads. For sweets instead of selecting pastry or Chocolate Mousse, my choice of Kulfi turned out to be a damp squib – not at all rich and creamy.
Primetime is the happening place to be if you want to make new friends. Join in the games, swig a mug of beer and just scream a bit!
