The sandwich is a quintessential on the go snack. The people of Mumbai have been making their version of the sandwich from decades, called the Bombay sandwich. It has satiated the hunger of many of the office-goers in Mumbai and the common folk. With witty sign boards which tell you to order only if have time and another one which requires you to get out of your car to order, they have a wide range of options in their menu and also offer brown bread for the ‘health conscious’ people. One of the items on demand is the pizza sandwich. They end their sandwiches by slathering a generous amount of butter on top. Prices range from 50 to 120 INR onwards. This joint is not a roadside eatery but a proper joint. It was earlier called swastika, the food is of good quality, an interesting piece of information is that, it used to be a roadside eatery and it saw so much success over the years so they converted into a store. It does quirky flavors such as cheese pineapple, tandori toast and spinach corn. This place is well known for its vegetable grilled sandwich. The sandwiches have a huge Mumbaiya influence. Idli Sandwich

It is located at King Circle, Matunga, invented by Rama Nayak and Sons Udipi. This innovation of theirs has been around since the last 30 years. They are prepared in idli moulds with the idli batter, spicy garlic chutney, tomato and butter. The triangular sandwiches combine elements of South India and sandwich making. Prices are 70 Rupees a plate but surely worth it.

Manju Sandwich

Located at Ganesh pet lane, this stall has managed to blend two popular Mumbai snacks together, Samosa and Sandwich. Crunchy, steaming samosas and chopped veggies are doused in chutney what emerges makes you salivate. At Rupees 50 you will go back for seconds.

Anand Stall

A huge hit with the students of Mithibai College, this stall has a wide range of sandwiches along with other food items. Huge triangular sandwich bread and sandwiches loaded with cheese. The dishes to try are the veg. grilled sandwich and Mayonnaise grilled sandwich the prices are Rupees 200 for two. It is located Opposite Mithibai College, Gulmohar Road 1, Vile Parle West.

It is a local sandwich joint near Matunga road station, opposite Starcity cinema to be exact Prominently popular with the office-goers and college kids. It has a Jain sandwich variant for Jains, the have a nice variety such as Mayonnaise Grill sandwich, Mushroom sandwich and recently added Chocolate sandwich.  It offers simple, yet amazing flavors. A sandwich place which once a sold on the street has now become a proper shop after years of hard work. This is a place which will surely get rid of your hunger pangs. The awesome sandwiches to try here are the Russian Sandwich a sandwich of three layers in big triangular breads which are grilled and filled with veggies and cheese and a grilled Sandwich made from Ferrero or Hershey’s chocolate spread and cheese if you want it.
